Ignas Maknickas

Today I heard a great artist ready to take the world by storm. But not only for his extraordinary natural technical skill but for his intelligence and simple but profound musicality.’

Brilliant young pianist – enjoying all the pieces

The pianist was mesmerising – gave me shivers up my spine. Very sensitive – I do like Chopin anyway.

I am speechless!! BRILLIANT

Ramesa was new to me and will be pursued. Marvellous Noctures!

You know when you are hearing something special in a performance and I felt it tonight with Ignas’s playing! What a marvellous concert! Thank you SNLCS.

How does he manage to produce such delicate, quiet sounds one minute and then dominant, thunderous in the next? The Ramesa piece was just so different from what we normally hear – different and intriguing!

You could really hear the bells ringing in the first piece – reminiscent of the composer’s monastery days? The pianist played it beautifully.

How do you manage to choose the artists? We always have such wonderful concerts. We are so lucky to be able to hear talent like the pianist tonight in Scunthorpe.

Programme:

Remesa Stigmatas (five miniatures for piano)
Chopin Nocturnes Op. 27
Chopin Polonaise-Fantasie Op. 61
Schubert Sonata No.21 in B-flat major, D.960
