About us

Since 1949  Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Concert Society (Registered charity No: 1012855) has promoted an annual series of classical chamber music concerts by professional artists of international renown. (More about the history of the society here )

Joint Presidents are Professor and Mrs Newbould.

We have a small committee of 8 volunteers (new committee members always welcome!) who decide the programme, liaise with artists and their agents, manage the legal aspects of the society,  deal with the finances and ticket sales, publicise the concerts, provide administrative support and organise the actual concerts.

We currently have over 60 members (we are still building the membership back to, hopefully reach the 100+ members we had pre-Covid!) and a mailing list of over 150 interested supporters. Our Facebook and Twitter followings are growing steadily.

We are also grateful to a number of our members who make financial contributions and to those who offer other help such as providing meals and accommodation for artists, supplying floral arrangements, organising a raffle, helping with refreshments at the concerts and writing our reviews.

Concerts are held monthly on Fridays between October and April  at Outwood Academy Foxhills, Scunthorpe DN15 8LJ. Located on the site of former Foxhills Technology College, the Academy has a theatre equipped to professional standards with ample, level car parking on-site and easy access to the concert room.

Please let us know in advance if you have any difficulty with mobility so we can make sure your needs are catered for, as the theatre has tiered seating without hand-rails. Please also advise if we can do anything else to make your visit more enjoyable. Download our accessibility information
