Florian Mitrea – November 5th 2021

This was our first concert after a very long break due to the Coronavirus restrictions. It was wonderful to have an audience of 70 attend – not as many as we would have expected prior to the pandemic, but an enthusiastic and welcoming group who really appreciated listening to live music in Scunthorpe again.

We welcomed back Florian Mitrea, a Romanian-British pianist, who had thrilled us three years previously with his virtuosity and musical prowess on the keyboard. He did not disappoint this time either!

With a programme featuring two Beethoven sonatas (as a ‘nod’ to us having missed Beethoven’s 250th anniversary the previous year) plus Schubert’s Sonata in A minor D 784 and Liszt’s Dante Sonata, Florian’s music created almost as many fireworks and thrills for our audience as there were outside.

Audience comments:

‘Congratulations on the excellent arrangements for last Friday’s superb concert!’

‘We thoroughly enjoyed the first concert of this year. The pianist was fantastic and so much more mature than when we saw him on his last visit.’

‘We really enjoyed Florian’s concert, who wouldn’t!’
