At the age of 11, Benjamin first came to prominence as the outstanding winner of the Keyboard Final of the 2004 BBC Young Musician Competition. Now 18, he has become an accomplished recitalist, performing to acclaim around the world. This programme will display to the full his remarkable technical and musical gifts.

These distinguished Czech musicians won the BBC Music Magazine Chamber Award for their recording of Dvorak in 2007. This was followed by “A Tchaikovsky triumph” as the BBC Music Choice in December 2008. The passionate, one-movement trio by Novak (he was a pupil of Dvorak) completes an exciting trio of trios.

Tim Lowe, born in 1986, has won an impressive list
of scholarships, awards and prizes and has played recitals and concertos at many eminent venues.

Annabel Thwaite has won all the major accompanying prizes, including the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier, Gold Medal, and Richard Tauber Piano Prizes.

James Turnbull, a fine young player, pupil of Nicholas Daniel, has given recitals, played concertos and appeared with ensembles extensively throughout Europe and recently released his debut recital disc with Huw Watkins (piano) and Claire Jones (harp).

Australian–born guitarist Craig Ogden presents an evening of music for solo guitar and for voice and guitar with his wife, British opera singer, Claire Bradshaw. Of her recent work singing Suzuki to Amanda Roocroft’s Madam Butterfly for Welsh National Opera the Guardian wrote that « Claire Bradshaw’s expressively sung Suzuki matched Roocroft in intensity. »
Craig Ogden, an outstanding guitarist, « a worthy successor to Julian Bream » according to the BBC Music Magazine, has released many recordings with great success. He has played for us twice before and we anticipate his return with pleasure.

The Martinu Quartet is a Czech ensemble specialising in the works of Czech composers such as Smetana, Dvorak and Janacek, and especially in the works of Martinu, whose complete quartets they have recorded on the Naxos label. They perform regularly at the Prague Spring Festival and in many European countries, the USA, Canada and Japan. Members will remember their performance of the Mozart and Brahms clarinet quintets with Angus Meryon in November 2008.

KEZIAH THOMAS – An Illustrated History of the Harp
Keziah will give us an illustrated history of the harp with repertoire from several centuries. She has a busy career as a soloist and chamber musician, appearing at major venues and festivals throughout the UK and abroad.
In October 2010 Keziah made her New York début at Carnegie Hall for which she commissioned a new work by Andy Scott, and was praised by the New York Concert Review for her ”totally original and engaging performance which brought joy to the audience”.
